Park space in Jersey City (and anywhere) is super precious. It is also really important because it adds to our tree canopy and green space initiatives with Sustainable JC and Jersey City Parks Coalition. While this park may have had a turbulent start, the outcome is a wonderful new green space with a dog run, seating, and picnic area in very building centric area.
On December 31st, Mayor Steven Fulop joined The One’s development team BLDG Management Co., for the ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the revitalized 8,000-square-foot park “bringing ample green space, public seating areas and a fully enclosed dog park to the fast-growing neighborhood.”
“Today’s celebration not only commemorates the opening of the First Street Park, but serves as another step forward in our mission to build a greener Jersey City," said Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop. “As an Administration, we have prioritized parks and open space and I am excited that this beautiful new park provides yet another space for the community to visit, relax, and enjoy." Lloyd Goldman, principal of BLDG Management Co., Inc. also spoke, ““We value being a part of the Jersey City community, and we’re excited to be able to contribute to the enrichment of the city with projects like First Street Park (108 1st Street next to The One at 110 1st Street), which adds another vibrant dynamic to the Powerhouse Arts District.”
